Winter holiday activity

Wow.. three days so far, Thurs, Friday and Saturday. Got a lot done.

Pretty much did everything outside that I wanted to for winter prep.

1. Got all the tree branches cut so that none are touching, and hopefully none will bow down with snow, to touch the antenna. Had to trim branches from 3 different trees. Fun fun. measured how much RG8 I need to get to the house and inside to my office. 25 feet should do it. The PL-129 coax connectors arrived too.

2. Detailed the Matrix! It got up to the high fifties, maybe even 60, yesterday. I started detailing the Matrix Thursday. Used a steamer to wet and heat the seats and then used a regular car seat cleaner foamy shit. Didn't work all the great on Akiva's gross seat, but the front cleaned up pretty well. Went at the outside with the electric polisher. Can't find the really good wool pad that came with it.. hoping I didn't throw it away. Found a 7" backing plate and wool pad that I think I picked up from HF a while ago. It was adequate. Crazy tiring running it, then rubbing the compound off and then waxing and rubbing dry. Bought a wrap of 30 microfiber towels at Walmart and they were pretty good, although linty until used once. They are washable. Finished up the Matrix on Saturday. Mary walked by and said, "wow, that's like night and day!". Felt good. She still has a bunch of scratches but she looks a lot better now. The matrix looks pretty good too. :)

3. Got the last of the gravelys into the tarp shed.

4. Did another grading session with the dozer in the door yard. Took down some high spots but may have created a bit of a depression near the garage. We'll see if it fills with water in the storm Tomorrow. First winter storm really but the forecast keeps going from rain to ice to snow and back to rain.

5. Been playing World of Tanks every day for breaks. Bought a Churchill III. It was on sale for 750 gold which is like $5. Its a beast in T5 battles but if there are T6's in the fight, I have to be careful.

6. Wasted a bunch of time with the Poulan trimmer motor. I was going to use it with the long extension for limbing the trees near the antenna but couldn't get it started. Tried ether and it popped right up. Took off the carb and the fuel line that feeds the primer was broken inside the tank. Those crappy fuel lines get hard and just snap. Not sure what size it is, will have to research. Hopefully can find the parts manual. Will replaced all the lines.. couple of different diameters it looks like.

7. Oh yeah, Friday was Christmas. Kids had fun opening presents. Seemed a bit less competition this year. Mary cooked all day and wow, what a meal. Rose and Jerz came over and brought smoked salmon. Mary made her famous squash soup and roasted a prime rib. There were roasted vegetables too and fingerling potatoes. For afters we had one of Anne-Marie's famous cheesecakes! She makes one for me every year around this time. She's a darling! Emma went home with Rose and Jerz for the night.
