Dishwasher

Yesterday our dishwasher burned up. I took it apart and it looked like some very hard things got down into the impeller area and jammed the pump. Possibly repairable but it had other problems, such as a stuck detergent door, so I started looking for a replacement. This one had cost $50 and lasted 5 or 6 years. Oh, and it's black and our other appliances are white or stainless.

I looked at new units online. $300 was basically the starting point. Too much!

I pretty quickly found a used Kenmore in the Augusta area for $100. Checked it out after work tonight and brought it home in the back of the matrix. Took about 1.5 hours to get the old one out and the new one in (needed to swap their cords because the new one wasn't long enough). Its definitely a higher level model than the old one.. and newer. It runs VERY quietly, which I really like. But guess what, detergent door doesn't open! However, this one uses a standard wax motor and I know how to fix those. Ordered the part on ebay for $11.

Another productive evening in what would normally be World of Tanks time of year!
